Britta offers first lessons in music to our youngest pupils as well as teaching her speciality, recorders. She also teaches the saxophone, piano and classical guitar.
In Britta's own words:
"I started my musical career at the age of 6 playing the recorder. I soon joined a recorder group, playing the whole range of the recorder family (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass). At the age of 8 I added the piano and then later classical guitar. Music was my main subject at high school in Germany.
After finishing my science degree I started to play music again and played in various recorder groups. Later on I played recorder in Baroque ensembles playing concerts and weddings. I also have played as a soloist at various concerts in the Bay Of Islands region as well as in Germany.
I have been teaching music for over 10 years now, mainly recorder, piano, guitar and saxophone at several schools in the BOI. I have taught students in one to one lessons and also have taught in classrooms.
Additionally, in the last 7 years I have focused on Carl Orff based early music education for younger children, which is a wonderful introduction for pre-schoolers and year 1 students into the wonderful world of music."
