Bevan O'Brien performed his first paid drumming engagement with a band at age fourteen and by his early twenties he was in Auckland playing most nights a week. During this period he also toured New Zealand in groups as a drummer and recorded in many of Auckland's recording studios as well as giving private drum tuition. Bevan took a break from the music industry at age 25 and spent five years in Scotland and England, using the UK as a base he travelled throughout Europe and developed an interest is various Yoga styles. After returning to New Zealand in 2007 he resumed playing and teaching music after a chance encounter with Kerikeri Music School co-founder Barry Wilcox. over the past decade he has released four albums with the jazz group Thelonius Punk, he can be watched or heard via spotify, YouTube or iTunes music. Bevan currently works as a session and performing musician based in Kerikeri Northland - Studied music theory ant University of Auckland, 2017 - Studied privately with Frank Gibson jr (1999) and Ron Samson (2017) in Auckland, primary focus on jazz styles, reading and improvisation techniques.
