“Kia Ora”! My name is Alison Lawless. I am primarily a pianist but I also play brass, guitar, violin and percussion. After leaving school in 1976, I studied piano at Dunedin and Auckland Universities, after which I married and settled in Rotorua and had 2 children. My husband and I taught there privately as well as Itinerant Music Teachers at the High Schools, Intermediates and at Rotorua Music School. I also have extensive experience in accompanying, brass competitions, exams pupils, choirs, school productions, bands, etc. My forte is versatility, being classically trained but also jazz, rock, blues and other contemporary styles, on piano, guitar, brass, percussion and violin. I am passionate about music and it being a universal language between all cultures and ages. Music as a “2nd language” stimulates brain functions, increases creativity, awareness, co-ordination and emotional sensitivity, so I aspire that all children to learn and enjoy music – and adults! Learn and enjoy – Thank you Allison Lawless
